GRAIN HARVEST COMPLETED: IMPROVED YIELDS30 June 2008
Tashkent: Despite abnormally low ambient winter temperatures and a low spring rainfall leading to a shortage of water, the average yield of Muruvvat-Tek’s 2008 wheat harvest is 29.5 centners [100 kgs] per hectare, an 18% improvement on 2007. Gross grain yield is expected to come in at over 16,000 tons.
The company’s grain crop area totaled 5,472 hectares [2007: 3,250 hectares], of which 2,639 were sown with super-stock “Nota”, “Tanya”, “Pamyat”, “Moskvich” and “Essaul” varieties imported from the Krasnodar region of Russia.
As of today, 13,300 tons of wheat has been collected from an area of 4,500 hectares, enabling the company to fulfill its state supply quota and release over 12,000 tons of wheat on a contractual basis [including 3,150 tons of seeding material].
The Agricultural Division deployed 15 combine harvesters [Case and Klaas], 25 truck tractors, 35 trailer tractors and over 40 grain carriers in bringing the harvest to a successful conclusion. Currently, over 20 KTF (Kharkov Tractor Factory) tractors are ploughing the harvested area.
