BENTONITE JV: NEWS UPDATE

Tashkent: SGS, the world’s leading auditing and certification body, has assessed the Quality Management System (QMS) implemented by Bentonite JV in accordance with international ISO 9001:2000 standard series; and granted the company an ISO 9001:2000 Certificate of Conformity.

Bentonite JV has been focusing on improvements to product quality and the expansion of their product range. In mid-2008, the company developed a modified PBMB bentonite mud powder used for drilling mud preparation; with powder consumption three times less in comparison with previous bentonite mud powder brands.

With a daily production capacity of 32 tons, the company plans to produce about 3,000 tons of the new type of PBMB mud powder by the end of the year,.

Total volume of Bentonite JV’s 2007 products reached 13,500 tons. This year, Bentonite JV is forecasting production of 15,000 tons.

Bentonite JV was established in February 2002 between ZEROMAX and Uzgeoburneftgaz JSC (a subsidairy of Uzbekneftegaz National Holding Company).
