UZGAZOIL REPORTS ENCOURAGING RESULTS FROM SHIMOLIY GHIRSAN TESTS

1 December 2009

Tashkent: The Exploration Department of UzGazOil FSV reported that commercial gas inflow   was recovered through 12-mm tubing choke from Callovian-Oxford limestone of Upper Jurassic period at 2654-2676 m interval depth during exploratory testing of well No 1 of the  Shimoliy-Ghirsan prospect area: commercial gas condensate inflow was equivalent to 632 tcm/a day and condensate outcome rate was 26 tons a day.

Shimoliy Ghirsan  is located in the south-west of Eastern Kultak – Northern Nishan – Kamashi investment block of the Bukhara-Khiva oil-and-gas-bearing area of the Republic of Uzbekistan where UzGasOil FSV is a geological survey operator in the Uzbekneftegaz NHC and Zeromax agreement to commence geological survey operations for oil and gas exploration.

According to UzGazOil’s  geologists, these results will be confirmed by the data  collected in the course of drilling of well No 2 and No 3, which is expected to be completed  this December. They are confident that they will be able to announce the discovery of a new hydrocarbon field

In July 2008, UzGasOil FSV discovered the Nishan gas condensate field containing 6.9 bcm of proved natural gas reserves and 330,000 tons of proved condensate reserves.
