GISSARNEFTEGAZ DISCOVERS NEW GAS RESOURCES AT ALACHIGIKUDUK31 March 2008Tashkent: Commercial condensate gas inflow rating to 400,000 cubic meters has been recovered at prospecting hole No 1 in the Alachigikuduk area in the course of assessing the field’s oil and gas content at the budgeted 4,100m depth. Drilling was undertaken with the purpose of determining saturation of the formation of the oil and gas producing horizon along the 3554-3585m interval. Development of the Alachigikuduk structure is being carried out by Gissarneftegaz JV within the framework of the geological survey project undertaken at Tagam-Shimoliy Tandirchy zone of the Gissar region (located in the Gissar area of Kashkadarya region, Uzbekistan). In addition to the Alachigikuduk area, surveys are being made in the Tagam and Tavakkal prospecting areas. During 2005–2006, Gissarneftegaz carried out detailed seismic surveys using updated modern equipment and the latest technologies of field exploration, including state-of-the-art methodology for interpreting survey results. The results of these surveys made it possible to prepare Tagam, Tavakkal and Alachigikuduk structures for deep-hole exploration drilling and a number of prospecting areas were determined for oil and gas field discovery. In 2007, Gissarneftegas commenced drilling in the prospecting areas and, in May that year, reef reservoir and gas flow was recovered at 3428m depth in the course of drilling borehole No 2 in the Tagam site area. To date, producing bed porosity stratification factor is averaging 12-14% and oil and gas saturation factor is rated at 88-92%. Preliminary estimations make it possible to assess that expected gas reserves of this deposit might tentatively be 100-150 Bcm. Exploration drilling along the Tavakkal structure showed massive pool occurrence estimated at no less than 100 Bcm of gas and 2m tons of gas condensate. Seismic survey operations and on-going prospect drilling will enable an assessment to be made of the Tagam-Shimoliy Tandirchy zone development. ENDS Close window |
